Nickers and Whinnies – a blog by Pippi

Ok, you've waited long enough. I'll tell you the correct answer to the luckiest horse shoe to have. I was trying to fake you out and make you think it's the one that's thrown on the first day of spring since it was the first day of spring that I posted the question. But nope, the luckiest horse shoe to have is the one from a big, gray mare's hind foot.

Your guess is as good as mine as to why that's the luckiest. Both Story and I think a chesnut mare's shoe would be much luckier. Everyone knows chesnut mares are the bomb.

I'm kinda sleepy today.  We were all up late last night because the Easter Bunny stopped in. He has the sweetest gig. All he does is hop around to kid's houses, leaves them candy and eggs, but in return most of the kids leave him carrots! Carrots, everywhere for the taking. Hmmm.

I think I should take over next year; give the Bunny a year off. Plus I can gallop much faster than he can hop, so it shouldn't even take me all night. I'm not sure where I'll get the candy and eggs, but perhaps I can buy enough off of eBay. Just call me the Easter Mare!

Here comes Pippi Muddy Tail, loping down the pasture's trail, clippity cloppity, Easter's on its way!

Did you know that horse shoes are considered lucky? Well, even though I don't have any, they are considered lucky to have. But there's one kind that's considered the luckiest of all.  Is it from a race winner? Is it one that's been thrown on the first day of spring? Or is it one from a big, gray mare's hind foot?

E-mail me with your answers!

Bok told me about something fun that he likes to do. He said that when you're loping, put your head down and try and scratch it with your front leg. I guess his human makes a really loud, funny noise when he does that. He calls it the Human Torpedo game. I might have to try that!

Remember the question I asked about which country has the most horses? Well, Simon had the correct answer. He knew it was China with more than 10 million of us wonderful creatures.

Hay, it's Story here. I've got some wonderful news! My human is a new Grandma again!!! Her daughter, Julie, had a beautiful baby girl today. Her name is Anna and I'm hoping that she loves horses. I would very much like to give Anna her first horsey ride. I promise to be very good and gentle.

Congratulations to Pete, Julie, and Evan! We're very happy for you and especially glad that Pete made it to the hospital in time for Anna's debut.

What a gorgeous day. It's about time the sun was out and the air was warm. I didn't even mind my human coming and catching me.

We had a good ride today. I think I'm making progress on my spinning. The new reins my human got seem to help me understand what I'm supposed to do.

Anyway, I actually broke a sweat today and it sure felt good. Got to get those old winter toxins out of my system. I think a need a trip to a spa. Hay, Story, you want to go have a day of beauty? Maybe a massage or a facial, a soak in mud, then some time in a sauna. We'd come back looking be-yootiful, for sure. Turn all the geldings' heads.

P.S. Mistie broke the fence in the mare's pasture this afternoon. Shhh. Don't tell anyone.
